Nike Terminator "Georgetown Hoyas / Cocoa Snake"

06 December 2022

Nike’s Terminator is back! Since its debut in 1985, the silhouette has been synonymous with college basketball and moreover, the infamous Georgetown Hoyas basketball team.

While respected and reputed basketball programs such as Kentucky and Michigan received signature “BTTYS” Nike Dunks ahead of the 1985 season, the reigning champs, Georgetown University received something different. They were blessed with an exclusive pair of Terminator Highs dressed in the school's grey and navy colour palette. The pair channelled the spirit of the school with the “HOYAS” moniker across the heel. Basketball legend Patrick Ewing donned the pair on their path to the 1985 NCAA tournament finals. A true, “team signature” shoe.

This time around the sneaker has been constructed in the same soft leather uppers on two distinct colour variations. The first iteration taps into the history of Georgetown, taking on the OG colourway of grey and navy blue. The other takes on a mix of white leather and snakeskin overlays, resembling 2018’s Japan Exclusive AF1 “Cocoa Snake”. Both sport “NIKE” branding across the heel as a finishing touch.

This season the heritage-infused silhouette receives two updates, one bold and the other classic. Often overshadowed by the Dunk and Air Force 1, the significance of these high-top sneakers makes them a hardwood icon nonetheless.
